Making bird feeders in 6A and chinese lanterns with 10A

Dear Parents,
Here we are up to our elbows in birdseed and sunbutter as we rolled pinecones in the mixture to make birdfeeders. Today we celebrated the Chinese New Year with our friends in 10A by making chinese lanterns and eating fortune cookies! Gung  Hay, Fat Choi!

A Swedish Visitor in Geography

Dear Parents,
Since this is my month to have 6E come to learn about european geography, one of the student's mothers, Mrs. Schaffer, very kindly agreed to come in and talk to the class about growing up in Sweden. The children learned about the swedish flag, the currency, the native dress, the queen, the food, including tasting some salt licorice, the favorite candy of Sweden, how to say some words in swedish, the northern lights and the length of the days and nights during the different seasons, the laplanders who raise the reindeer, some swedish holidays, etc. It certainly was an enjoyable way to travel without leaving the comforts of our warm  classroom! Thank you, Mrs. Schaffer for taking the time to teach 6E about such a beautiful part of Scandinavia.

                                                                                             Sincerely,
                                                                                             Louise Catlin
