Dear 6A Parents,
We've been busy using our imaginations and creating things out of recycled materials such as paper tube rolls, boxes, ,etc. We would love to have anything sent in from home that you and your child think might be fun and safe for us to use.
6A has also begun implementing the use of a "Peace Table" in our classroom, thanks to our school counselor, Mrs. Hannah, to help us work out any problems we might be having with our friends and classmates. Hopefully, you had a chance to read the letter from Mrs. Hannah, which your child brought home that explains how the peace table works.
Last, but not least, I have included a photo of the class with our new Loyola intern, Dana Pedersen, whom the chidren love and has already been extremely helpful to all of us! We always look forward to her visits.
Until next time,
Louise Catlin

Calvert's 6th age field trip to Safety City
Dear 6A Parents,
What a fantastic field trip we had to Safety City today in Druid Hill Park! We had a chance to play for a while on the park's beautiful playground equipment with many of our other 6th age friends and eat our snack there, while we waited for our turn to learn how to be safe in Safety City. Once it was our turn to visit the miniature Baltimore City, we learned several songs to help us remember what to do when crossing the street, etc.,took turns practicing how to walk in the crosswalks and obey the traffic signals and signs, and each of us had a turn to practice riding our own "motorbike" safely around the streets. Everyone had lots of fun and earned a Safety City certificate to bring home with them on the bus. We also loved eating our own lunches brought from home, in our classrooms, after we returned to Calvert. Be sure to ask your child what he or she learned today on our field trip!
Sincerely,
Louise Catlin
