Dr. Simpson's class visit

Dear Calvert 6A Parents,

If your son or daughter came home last Friday, November 4th, telling you that he or she had decided to become a doctor when they grow up, it might be a result of the wonderful and informative visit we had from Dr. Crystal Simpson, Jasmine Flower's mother. With the help of her capable assistant, Jasmine, the children learned all about their skeletons thanks to the life size blow up plastic skeleton. They also talked and learned about their hearts from plastic, blow up models, and their ears by taking apart a simple model of the human ear. Dr. Simpson shared a fantastic light up/sound popup book with us called "Alive", which she then very kindly donated to our classroom. She also provided each child with latex gloves and a paper replica of a doctor's kit, into which they could paste all sorts of surgical supplies such as bandaids, paper thermometers, gauze and cotton balls, stethoscopes, etc. The children really enjoyed this activity. Our afternoon ended with a special treat of apple cider supplied by Jasmine's father, Reggie Flowers. Needless to say, it was a great way to spend the afternoon in 6A and our thanks goes out to Dr. Simpson and her family for all their time and effort. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

                                              Sincerely,
                                              Louise Catlin
